Henan shallow bauxite mining is exhausted, bauxite may explode

A few days ago, Henan, a major bauxite mining province, said that the shallow bauxite in the province is facing the situation of being exhausted, and Indonesia has raised export tariffs again after restricting the export of bauxite. As bauxite resources become more and more tense in the future, related concepts are expected to receive close attention, so the concept of bauxite is expected to usher in a collective explosion. Henan's shallow bauxite has been fully exploited for less than 15 years. Zhang Xingliao, chief engineer of the Provincial Department of Land and Resources, introduced that since the early 1950s, aluminum was first discovered in Gongxian County in our province at that time. Soil mines, by the end of last year, our province had a total of 813 million tons of bauxite resources and reserves, ranking second in my country in terms of resources, third in bauxite reserves in the country, and alumina production in our province. It has always ranked first in the country, and its output accounts for more than one-third of the country's total output. Long-term strong development has resulted in the exhaustion of shallow bauxite resources in our province. More than 60% of the shallow bauxite mines above 300 meters underground have been mined. In addition, some bauxite mines cannot be mined due to the occupation of railways, highways, and reservoirs. According to the forecast of the Department of Land and Resources, our province has found that the mining period of bauxite resources is less than 15 years. The new mechanism solves the dilemma of exploration and mining. Wang Zhiguang, a professor-level senior engineer of the Provincial Bureau of Nonferrous Metal Geology and Mineral Resources, introduced that after entering the 21st century, the crisis of bauxite reserve resources has become increasingly intensified, and finding more reserve mineral resources has become the top priority of the geological prospecting department. The bauxite in our province is distributed in layers, and most of the areas with coal mines have bauxite-bearing layers. According to the relevant regulations of the state, it is forbidden to repeatedly set up mining rights in the upper and lower layers of the same plane area, and our province also stipulates that bauxite resources can only be allocated to key alumina enterprises. The "exclusivity" of coal mining rights and the "exclusivity" of bauxite resource allocation have made our province's coal-based aluminum exploration into a deadlock. Guo Minmin, deputy director of the Provincial Department of Land and Resources, introduced that after thorough investigation and research, our province decided to innovate the mechanism last year and implement a "package exploration". Aluminium enterprises are mainly involved, and geological exploration units and local financial exploration investment companies are moderately involved, and many parties have invested in the establishment of joint ventures and established a prospecting alliance. Combined exploration and joint mining with half the effort and the method of integrated exploration has achieved a rapid breakthrough in the search for bauxite. Our province has set up 88 prefabricated exploration areas, among which coal and aluminum have become the highlight. A total of 15 prefabricated exploration areas have been set up. For more than a year, a large amount of bauxite resources under coal has been found in the whole-package exploration project: at the end of last year, the amount of bauxite resources found in Xin'an County, Luoyang reached 23.628 million tons; in July this year, good news came from Sanmenxia City. The county found that the amount of aluminum resources under coal reached 152 million tons. At present, there are already seven exploration areas with more than 20 million tons of aluminum under coal, and it is estimated that more than 500 million tons of bauxite resources will be discovered. "Under coal mining, underground water is an important problem." Zhang Xingliao analyzed that if coal and aluminum enterprises use the results of previous work to explore and combine coal and aluminum, it will save time and effort, and get twice the result with half the effort. Once the coal mine stops mining, the groundwater level will quickly recover. In the future, if the bauxite mining is resumed, the mining difficulty and cost will be greatly increased.
